Honor Magic 8 Pro Goes Global: Snapdragon 8 Elite, 200MP Telephoto, and Massive 7,100mAh Battery

Honor has officially launched its latest flagship smartphone, the Honor Magic 8 Pro, globally, beginning with Malaysia. The device arrives with several significant upgrades, including the powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, a massive 7,100mAh battery, and an advanced 200MP periscope telephoto camera. The model was first introduced in China in October, where it comes with a slightly larger 7,200mAh battery and faster 120W charging, though the real-world difference is expected to be minimal.

Design and Display

The Honor Magic 8 Pro retains the sleek and premium design of its predecessor, featuring a large, circular rear camera module that houses three lenses. The smartphone is available in Black, Sunrise Gold, and Sky Cyan. On the front is a 6.71-inch 1.5K LTPO OLED display offering a 120Hz refresh rate and an impressive 6,000 nits of HDR peak brightness — one of the highest levels found in any smartphone display today.

Performance

Powering the device is Qualcomm’s latest flagship chipset, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, which promises a 20% improvement in performance and 35% better CPU power efficiency compared to the previous Snapdragon 8 Elite used in the Honor Magic 7 Pro. This upgrade positions the Magic 8 Pro as a strong contender among 2025 flagship smartphones.

Camera System

The highlight of the Magic 8 Pro is its triple-camera configuration, led by a 200MP periscope telephoto sensor capable of 3.7x optical zoom and up to 100x digital zoom. Accompanying this is a 50MP primary camera and a 50MP ultra-wide camera. For selfie enthusiasts, the phone features a 50MP front camera paired with a 3D depth sensor.

Honor also introduces Magic Color, an AI-powered color-tuning feature that enhances photography results. The 200MP periscope lens is specially optimized for low-light performance, which could give the Magic 8 Pro an advantage over rival flagship devices.

Battery and Charging

The Magic 8 Pro stands out in the flagship market with its massive 7,100mAh battery, placing it among the few premium phones to cross the 7,000mAh threshold. It supports 100W wired fast charging and 80W wireless charging, offering one of the best charging setups available in this segment.

Durability and Additional Features

Honor emphasizes durability with IP68, IP69, and IP69K certifications for dust and water resistance. The display is protected by the brand’s NanoCrystal Shield, and the device includes an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor for enhanced security and speed.

Pricing and Availability

* In Malaysia, the Honor Magic 8 Pro starts at:
* RM 4,599 (approx Rs 1,00,043) for the 12GB + 512GB variant
* RM 5,199 (approx Rs 1,13,094) for the 16GB + 1TB model

As of now, there is no confirmation regarding an India launch. Although Honor attempted a comeback in India with the Honor 90, Honor 200 series, and the Honor X9c, the company has reportedly faced challenges with imports and new product launches. It remains uncertain whether the Magic 8 Pro will make its way to the Indian market.

Competition and Market Outlook

If launched in India, the Magic 8 Pro would join an increasingly competitive flagship space, going up against the OnePlus 15, OPPO Find X9 Pro, and iQOO 15.

For buyers in Malaysia, the Magic 8 Pro is an excellent choice for those prioritizing long battery life, high-end photography, and top-tier performance. Indian consumers, however, should wait for official pricing and launch confirmation, as several strong flagship alternatives are already available.
